Sunday museum trip

My grandmother called me at noon today and asked if I wanted to go on a little adventure with her, and of course, how could I say no?! We went to a place called Hjortsvang Museum which is basically full of old stuff. My grandmother got very nostalgic, seeing things they used to have on the farm she grew up in and such. So this Sunday was full of tales from the old days!

After we went to a marked with everything under the sun. So much junk and amazing old nick-nacks. I'm going to convince my mum to go back there next month. I mean, I definitely need a few more things for my room, right ;-)

How was your Sunday?

A bookworm's diary: March - April wrap up

A bookworm's diary is a new little series I plan to start - AND KEEP - where I talk about books I've been reading. I'll try and keep things spoiler free, as much as possible! Since I've gotten my kindle (thank you bae ♡), I've been reading so much more. So let's get this shiz started!

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Mia Hall has fallen deeply in love with the cello and classical music, despite having parents who are sworn rock and rollers. But it's not only music that has gotten a chunk of Mia's heart. The rising rock star from the band Shooting Star, Alex, cannot help but fall for the aspiring cellist. She has her music, her loving family, the best friend a girl could wish for, a promising application to her dream music college and the gorgeous boy, isn't life just amazing? But as always, there's a but. It's a snow day and the family goes for a ride, within seconds Mia's life is flipped upside down. Now the only question that's left is, will she stay, or will she go?

This is right up my alley. I'm a sucker for YA books. In many ways I can relate to Mia, and in many ways I'm frustrated with how stupid, insecure and blind she can be. But that's the beauty of it, she's a 16 year old girl for fuck's sake! Teenage hormones and all that jazz. It's a MUST READ if you're into YA books.

Where She Went by Gayle Forman

The second book to If I Stay. In this book we follow Alex and his life after Mia's accident. His band, Shooting Star, has become an international sensation, he's dating a beautiful actress, fans adore him and he gets to see the world. But something is bothering him. He can't enjoy any of this, the accident has left too many invisible scars and not enough time in the world seems to heal anything.

If you loved If I Stay, you'll have to read this. The major thing that bothered me was that now we see things from Alex' point of view. I mean, I love Alex' character, but I would have loved to hear more about Kim, about so many others. It did answer some questions but not enough. I did enjoy it tho, it's not a bad book. I swallowed it in like 2 days! It's really hard not to spoil anything but there you go ;-)

Looking For Alaska by John Green

Miles never really had any friends, but to be honest, it didn't bother him too much. I mean what's friends when you have biographies of famous people and video games, right? But sometimes it can get too lonely, so Miles is off to his dad's old boarding school in Alabama, hoping he'll meet people and make actual friends. His roommate is a short guy who goes by the name The Colonel and a weird obsession with nicknames, but oh well, your friends gotta have some weird traits don't they. The Colonel decides to name Miles, Pudge, because of his slender appearance. Through The Colonel, Pudge gets to meet the beautiful and insane Alaska and the hip hop genius Takumi, and together they're a strange combination of friends, but it all works out, somewhat at least.

I will admit, I wasn't actually expecting to love this as much as I did. I bought "The Fault in Our Stars" on my kindle and I'm just not into it, and based on that, I thought I would hate this one. But obviously, a writer isn't only one of their books. I absolutely fucking loved this from start to finish. Pudge is really fun to follow, and all the characters in this book are likeable in their own ways. So don't be scared to dive into this one, I loved it!

What I'm currently reading:
My goal for the rest of May is to finish A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin (second book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series) and get The Fault in Our Stars over with because I'll allow myself to start another book. But of course I'll let you all know in May's wrap up!

When the honeymoon stage is over....

Artist // Philippa Rice

I know it's crazy, but that stage can actually leave our love filled minds. Suddenly everything goes from cake and sprinkles to day old bread and glitter you can't get out of your fucking hair. But fear not! It doesn't mean the relationship is over, it's a perfectly normal thing. And here's how not to make it into the worst time in your relationship-life!

1. Small things matters.
It can be anything from a post-it note saying "You're the best" to buying them their favourite chocolate bar when you're in the shop any way. It never has to be expensive jewellery, newest video games or a trip around Asia, a simple little thing can make a huge difference.

2. Remember "us time".

A thing a lot of couple can forget is to take time off to each others. And it's not just time to sit down and watch the same TV programme, it's actually spending quality time together. If it's going out to a museum, going bowling, to a resturant, even just a walk, it can do wonders to reconnect.

3. Pick flowers, not fights.

Having been with the same guy for 5 years, it's easy to get annoyed at the small things, and even easier to make it into a huge fight. But if you want to have a future with this person, you need to realise that fighting isn't going to solve anything. Calmly ask your love to put down the toilet seat, go out with the bin or whatever that needs to be done.

4. Give space.
I'm a person who needs space. If it's going for a walk alone, going to the movies with friends or just be left alone in my chair to read a bit, whatever it is, I need it else I will explode. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. Accepting and being okay with your partner needing space is so important. Never feel like it's a way of being pushed away. Your partner loves you but for fucks sake if you don't give some space you might end up as dinner for the dogs at the kennel.

5. Talk about it, even if you feel silly about it.

A bit similar to 4, but if something is bothering you, tell them. As nice as it would be, your partner isn't a mind reader. Feel a bit insecure because your partner has some good looking friends? Talk about it. Sean and I do this time to time, I feel insecure about something and just need it out of my head because else it'll eat me up. And yes, it's silly, I know, but if you let it build up, it can get 10 times worse.

I'm obsessed with Etsy. Even if it's just for admiring things or get inspiration for jewellery or homeware things! Also gives me ideas to what to look for in charity shop that I can redecorate myself, so it's a great source if you're feeling spendy (that like is all credit to Amelia Liana) or you're just plain bored

A few changes

Well, if you've been following my blog for a while, you'll HOPEFULLY notice the fact that I've changed the name of the blog. I've gone from moonlight-lovers to peculiarletters. It's a change I've been meaning to make, but the quest to get a new url hasn't been easy. But I finally settled and I'm happy with it!

I also changed the lil text under the picture of my face and changed the background. I'm also sorry for the silence in here. I have so many drafts that I just can't seem to finish. It's been a bit of a bleh time for me lately, but hopefully I'll get back into the swing of things soon!
