Shit bisexuals hear a lot

I'm bisexual. I discovered that about myself a year or two ago now. And since then, I've heard a lot of crap.

- Wow! You can easily find a date then!

Yeah because I'm attracted to every male and female I come across, EVERY single one!!!! No. I'm like many others, I'm attracted to certain personalities and people. Just because they have a pulse doesn't mean I'm attracted to them, geez.

- How can your partner trust you? You could leave them for a man or a woman any time

Just like your partner can trust you if you're a straight/gay/pan/whatever person in a relationship. By being committed. Insane thing, I know.

- So are you half straight and half gay?

No. I'm bisexual.

- You can't have a preference, you're bi, it's 50/50

That's actually false. You can have a strong preference in women and still be bisexual. Or a strong preference in men, still bi. I'm maybe 70% men 30% women. Still bisexual!

- It's just a phase!

If I have the guts to open up about my sexuality, do not say bullshit like that. I have thought this through for a long time, I've been very confused. This is not a fashion try out. It's not a phase.

- Want to join my girlfriend/boyfriend and I for a threesome?

No. Stop.

- Have you ever been with a man/woman? did you have sex? Then how can you know what you like?

Funnily enough, sexuality isn't always like trying out new food. You don't always need to try it to know if you like or don't like it. Experimenting is perfectly fine, but for some, they just know. And please don't blurt out such things, not everyone is comfortable talking about their sexual experiences.

- Stop trying to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community, you're not welcome here.

Oh please what do you think the b stands for in that? Yes, bisexual, so I am very welcome.

- Just make a choice, gay or straight.

What is there to choose? Bisexuality like many other sexualities aren't a choice to make. I cannot entirely control what I'm attracted to. And even if I could, I wouldn't. I'm bisexual, and that's perfectly fine. We don't need to make a choice.

Is there anything else I need to add? What have you had to hear when people discover your sexuality?

Saturday, July 25

Yes, I am alive!

Sean arrived in the start of July and time has flown by. We've been a bit busy too, so it's a good excuse. I have a bunch of blog posts planned but nothing finished. This weekend should be a bit more chill so I might stop procrastinating and do some blogging work.

More importantly, how's YOUR summer going?
